Artist’s Statement
"Art is an exploration, a way of seeing the world, a way of appreciating and understanding my environment. To create, I must slow down and ponder the things that are often overlooked. Inspiration strikes in that instant—the moment when I notice something that I’ve looked at dozens of times in a way that is new and intriguing and the painting evolves into something personal.

Rocks in a coastal tide pool, tree roots clinging to earth, shiny skins of stems and imperfect shapes of leaves are among the subjects

I notice and capture in my work. Lines and squiggles and colors become tree trunks, feathers and stones, or perhaps a brightly colored moss bank. And the painting evolves. These images frame my world. To create them is to preserve a piece of my experience."

Artist Statement My work is about being a fearless explorer, translator, and conjuror. My toolbox is filled with the usual suspects: pen, ink, paper, hope, compassion. My goal is to make images that act like restorative tonics for our everyday lives.

Art that lifts you up and reminds you how good the world is. Currently, I am combining calligraphy with printmaking (monotypes) to bring together rich imagery and the power of the written word.
